Gurkan is Senior Vice President of Corporate M&A at PepsiCo, a position he
in September 2010. He is responsible for identification, evaluation and execution of acquisitions and business alliances globally at PepsiCo. He reports to Hugh Johnston, Chief Financial Officer. In addition, Tarkan is the Senior Vice President of the Global Franchise Leadership Team. He provides financial guidance and governance and helps set the stage as the team forms the Global Franchise Function.
Tarkan has spent his last 20 years in the food and beverage industry executing numerous acquisitions, divestitures and alliances. He joined PepsiCo from Campbell Soup Company where he led the M&A function since 2008 as Vice President of Corporate Development.
Prior to Campbell, Tarkan was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers for seven years. He served as a Senior Vice President at its Global Consumer and Retail Group, focusing on M&A and financing transactions for leading global food and beverage companies. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Tarkan spent four years at Nabisco Holdings Corporation as Director of Business Development, primarily leading international M&A transactions.
Tarkan began his career in the food and beverage industry at Pepsi-Cola International with M&A and planning roles. He was located in Purchase, NY.
Tarkan graduated from Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College with a Master of Business Administration, and from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey, with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to completing his MBA, he worked in Turkey for Koc Group, an industrial company, executing business alliances with global corporations.
