Onur is the Founder and President of InnoNative Advisors – a strategic advisory and business development company focused on Turkish-American economic and commercial relations – where he is advising companies in formulating strategies to meet their product and sector specific targets in both markets.

Trade policy, regional integration, trade liberalization and their relationship with behind the border regulations are his main areas of expertise. During his role as a trade negotiator at the Turkish Ministry of Economy, Onur has pursued Turkey’s commercial interests at the European Commission, FTA negotiations and other official meetings with countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Syria, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine, Canada, and Chile.

Onur has also worked as an Advisor to the Minister of Economy, where his major policy concentration was on market and product diversification in Turkish exports, encouraging entrepreneurship, increasing firm productivity and private sector development via innovation and capacity building.

As a Commercial Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Washington D.C., Onur led dialogues with government agencies, chambers, trade associations, private companies, and international organizations to communicate Turkey’s commercial priorities. He also helped Turkish and American companies to identify business opportunities, strengthen relationships, and overcome specific obstacles with an aim to increase bilateral trade and investments.

Onur holds a BSc. in International Relations from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey, M.A. in European Law from Sussex University, and a Ph.D. in International Political Economy from METU. He is a recipient of Order of Bernardo O’Higgins – the highest civilian honor awarded to non-Chilean citizens by the Republic of Chile. Onur writes on topics such as trade policy, competition policy, Turkey-U.S. and Turkey-E.U. relations. His articles appear at the Brookings Institution, Newsweek Magazine, Global Trade and Customs Journal, EU Observer, EURACTIV, etc.
